Dobrisa
Cesaric, our famous poet, once wrote: "For my dream in
the waterfall to live my drop helps to weave. He meant to say that
there is unity present in the world, with us being a part of that
global society. Sometimes we think we are only a tiny drop in the
ocean, which no one notices, but if there weren't that drop a see
wouldn't be a see, a lake wouldn't be a like and a stream wouldn't
be a stream. |
The purpose of this project
was to show our partners and us the importance of our cultures, which
are all a part of Europe. The idea was also to prove that in all that
diversity there is also something that we all have in common, because
of a simple fact that there is always some conscious, creative activity
of man as a man present. Out of a number of various different aspects
(our language, history etc.) we have chosen cuisine. |
The basic question of our
research was "what do we eat?". Someone would perhaps think that this
is a commonplace thing to ask, but have you ever wondered where do
pizzas, frankfurters, champagne and other so - called regular food
come from. Have you ever wandered which cuisine we become a part of
when we lay the table? We have tried to answer some of them. |

Love
goes through the stomach, but is it the same with tolerance? |
We often come across a saying
that love goes through the stomach, but we don't think about what
it actually means. When you hear it, your thoughts are usually limited
to the idea of food being an instrument for a seduction. And it is,
why not? Food helps us meet people, laugh and discuss important things.
If we like pizza, can we also respect Italians? Having finished this
project (surveys, questioning the numbers of Croatian ethnic minorities,
visiting museums and talking to the experts) we can also conclude
that Croatia doesn't have its specific national dish but only a number
of traditional dish, which are a mixture of different cultural clashes
from the past. Most of European countries don't have a defined national
dish, but only a number of foreign influences adapted to the climate
and relief of a particular country. |
With such an ordinary example,
we have managed to prove that there is cohesion among European countries.
One country influences another and enriches it culturally. We only
hope that in the near future, the countries will be enriched by the
friendship and tolerance, and not only by the new recipes and spices.
