Auerstadt 1806 - 2006
While the rest of the world will no doubt focus of Napoleons great victory at Jena, The battle of Auersdadt offers a much more interesting wargame - both sides could have won, and it offers a chance to put the more dynamic French tactics against the linear rigidity of the Prussians.

The rules used will be 'Valmy to Waterloo', a highly detailed rule set which eschews some of the more 'received notions' of Napoleonic warfare, and in order to get the feel of the battlefield, the game will be modelled in 6mm 'Adler Miniatures' figures on a large tabletop - space was crucial in the battle, and it is felt that any attempt to 'telescope' the battlefield will result in a cluttered look which doesn't represent the nature of the encounter.

Of course, someone still has to paint the wee chaps, so there are no photos yet, but the timeframe is for around Autumn, giving a good few months to get the scenario ironed out in time for anniversary on 14 October 2006. The photos here show Davout (above) and Fredrick William (right).
