Italian Wars Battles

Phoenix has a large number of Rennaissance armies, so many in fact that we decided to see what could be done with all of them on the table at once. The inaugoral game involved 12 players in a giant 'late Italian wars' game set on the outskirts of Bologne.

Two huge French and Spainish armies were produced from the clubs collection of figures, and the commanders laid their dispositions, and we set to for a great sunday afternoons gaming.

The rules were Armati 2 (with the rennaissance bits from A1 left in). For those familiar with the Armati system, we had 30 Break points per side (a normal game would use 4 BP per side for western european period armies).

The game finished for the evening at 29:22 to the Spainish, and we thoroughly recommend that everyone possible gives this idea a try themselves.

Next time (a few months away, no doubt) will probably be based around the actual battle of Ravenna, although there is a strong push for something with a more eastern flvour - Polish winged hussars and Turks are far too attractive to leave on the sideline for much longer.
