During the entire process of my Year Out, from preparation to completion certain things helped me significantly along the way. I have listed some things that I think are fairly essential below just as a starter to your adventures! Just check out my reviews of each and then click on the link to be jetted off to their respective official homepages. I hope they help...
- BUNAC
- The Lonely Planet Guide
- Youth Hostelling International
- Toronto Transit Commission
- Pearson International Airport

For an excellent guide to how, why and what to do to organise a Year Out for yourself. This non-profit organisation helped me out with all the administration work required to gain my work visa for 12-months, and also provided a contact support office while I was out in Canada, just incase of emergencies. Organising a Year Out with BUNAC also comes with the great added advantage of meeting fellow BUNAC'ers on the plane travelling out. And believe me, you do get to know them well on a 9.5 hour flight... like I did with this lot...

The Lonely Planet Guide

An essential read that should never leave your side when travelling, whether in the outback in Australia, or seeing the sites in Downtown Toronto. It provides detailed reading material from restaurants to ticket information for concerts and travel. If you do decide to travel the globe, buy a relevant copy now!

Youth Hostelling International
|
Before travelling out to Canada I joined the Youth Hostelling group in England which provided immediate membership of a number of youth hostels in Canada. It was obviously an ideal card to carry in the wallet of a backpacker, as it provided great discounts at specific youth hostels all for a relatively cheap joining fee. Well worth consideration.

Toronto Transit Commission

Just a little inclusion providing a handy link to transport information essential for any medium to long term stay in Toronto... one of those things that you always seem to think of last. Well no need, I've thought of it for you already. Just click, load and check out season ticket passes for streetcar and tube in a flash.

Here's another small insert providing facts, figures and flight details to and from Pearson International Airport. If you're heading out to Toronto you'll more than definitely be landing here as it's the closest airport to the city. Worth a look...
