Toronto landscape and me!

Toronto, more commonly known as "T'rono" by locals, is a multi-cultured City in the state of Ontario, on the Eastern side of Canada. After Sixth Form it became my second home between March - June 1998. I arranged a 'Year Out' travelling abroad with BUNAC, who offered a Work Canada placement which provided a one year working visa and support help for wherever my travels took me thereafter. Jumping at the chance, I worked for 7 months full time at Marks and Spencer, England, to finance the trip, before setting off.

After a long 9hr flight, I landed at Pearson International Airport on the outskirts of Toronto, in the middle of a blizzard. I stayed at a youth hostel in Church Street (Hostelling International) for several weeks intially, before finding an apartment in Downtown Toronto with some fellow BUNAC'ers. I quickly found a local job at, you guessed it, Marks and Spencer, and settled to the Canadian way of life.

CN Tower In this site I have personally reviewed some of the many tourist attractions Toronto has to offer. Along with information on several landmarks and attractions, such as the original purpose for constructing the CN Tower, I have provided many useful links to sites such as BUNAC and Hostelling International. I hope this provides a good source of pooled information from which you can gain an idea of Toronto, and perhaps even persuade you to plan your own Year Out there, using some of the links.

The site's layout is hopefully simple to navigate as links to every page are provided in the menu bar under the main title in each page. If you have any problems or questions about anything on the site, or wish to ask more about how I organised my GAP Year, or simply wish to include your own reviews, just send me an e-mail by clicking on the Mail me! link in the menu bar, and I will gladly do so!... Similarly, if you wish to use any of my personal photo's or graphics shown, please ask permission first by dropping me a line via the e-mail link, thanks.

All that's left to say now is surf away and enjoy! I hope it persuades you to think about travelling to Toronto to gain your own taste of the city for yourselves...

A Canadian moose

Oh, one last thing. A picture of a moose. Sorry, but it's got to be placed somewhere on the site, and seeing as I couldn't find anywhere else for him to go, where better than on the first page... enjoy.
