WHAT WE DID!
SUNDAY
Sunday morning arrived and we again all gathered in the meeting room. Shelly was now with us. She arrived on Saturday evening and joined us for the cake and M7 videos.
We headed out early for the horseback riding, but when we got there they could not take us. True had found the stables, but didn't know that we should have a reservation. We set up a reservation for noon and headed over to Heritage Square to have our Old Time photo taken. This was the next slight glitch.
True had been told that the shop opened at 10:00am, but when we got there the sign said they didn't open until 11:00am. Everything went well with the photo taking and the pics turned out great. However we were not finished by noon, so now we missed our reservation for the horseback riding!! LOL We called the place back and they could not get us in on Sunday. They could get us in on Monday at 10:00am, so we took that.
We looked around Heritage Square for a bit and did a little shopping, found some really cute Halloween TY Beanie bears!! LOL From there we headed to Idaho Springs. We had lunch there, where everyone had either a Buffalo Burger, or Buffalo Brats!!! The food was great and so was the atmosphere.
After lunch we did a little shopping before heading over the Gold Mine tour. The gold mine tour was very interesting and we all got to wear hard hats!! LOL There is still a lot of gold in the mine and also minerals that will be turqiose in another hundred years or so!! They can't get any more gold out of the mine however, because it's located in a location that would bring the cave down if they tried to remove it. After the tour, they let us pan for gold, but we didn't seem to find much and it was in a real creek, so the water was TOO cold!! LOL
From there we headed over to Central City for some gambling. A couple people didn't gamble, but they did play with the parrot that was at the casino. I think Leigh was the only person who actually won money. It was a fun time and we spent an hour or so there, before heading back down to Denver for dinner at the Trail Dust Steak House. They have awesome steak and the shrimp wasn't bad either.
After dinner we went back to the hotel and enjoyed their hot tub. Even though it would seem that we broke it somehow!! LOL Actually I think it was just the breaker!! LOL We spent the rest of the evening watching more tapes, doing the silent auction, and just chatting.
The silent auction was a ton of fun, the bidding was furious for some items. The most popular item was an original script from the pilot that was not what was actually aired. It had been signed by EC and lots of people wanted it. As we chatted we all felt like we'd known each other for years and it was great fun.
