Gemini Child by Rebecca Stratton 1976. In this book Michelle goes in search of her long lost twin brother, the gemini. No, they don't get together, although that would have made this book a lot more interesting. It takes place in Greece. Of course there is a domineering man named Andrea, which seems pretty unbelievable that a man named Andrea could be domineering. My favorite quote was "If you are suggesting that I see myself as your brother also, pethi mou, he told her quietly, I cannot see myself in that role, I am sorry. I have no objection at all however, to using your very attractive first name, Michelle."

This Was Love by Jean Curtis 1967. First of all, the lady on the cover, she's kinda scary looking. In this story Lydia falls for her boss, Dalziel, what a name! He's a doctor, a world famous surgeon. It also takes place in India. Whats sort of interesting is that the book doesn't just follow around the main characters, it also gives page space to the villian and villianess. Most books don't bother. This book actually had a nice quote "I thought I would never know you cared, she whispered against his cheek. It wasn't fair - the way you made me love you more every day, and never seemed to really notice I was there."

On Wings of Love by Elaine L. Schulte 1983. This is an inspirational romance. For those of you who don't know, inspirational means its all about lovin' god and the man/hero. The good and righteous win. So if you smoke, drink, are mean, blond, a whore, or speak to men, you will lose. In this novel Katie Thompson, a good wholesome name, likes her boss. They go on a cruise with two other employees, both of which are friends with the man. One has intentions towards the man, and yes it is a woman. Her name is Giselle Vallon, a whore's name, she likes to dance and party, dime store trollop. My favorite quote is "Katie glanced at her as she lit a cigarette. Giselle was one of those rare women with slim hips and a voluptuous bosom, now extremely conspicuous against her silk halter as she sat back exhaling smoke." If you have a nice figure you're a whore. Also, " After dating him for several weeks, she began to sleep late on Sunday mornings, missing the church services. Gradually she had neglected reading the Bible at bedtime. Now she often failed to pray. Nor could she blame Stan for this spiritual lapse. She alone was responsible for her relationship with God." I wonder what she was doing at bedtime that she couldn't pray?

Better to Forget by Margaret Pargeter 1977. In this novel, Liza, works at a department store. There is a fire and she ends up hitting her head and getting amnesia. So the man is the owner of the department store, and he's not very nice. She really doesn't like him before the amnesia. So, Tip for guys, give the ladies amnesia, then they won't remember they don't like you. Anyway, he takes her away to his mansion and she's not allowed to have anything familiar with her, i.e. talk to old friends, get stuff from her apartment, or visit her apartment. Its kind of scary. He doesn't tell her anything about her old life, possibly because he doesn't know anything, and he's really possessive. He also makes her feel guilty for wanting stuff from her old life, and for speaking to his brother. Such a nice guy! Then when she is allowed to return, he's moved her from her old apartment! Quote: "Poor Liza, his voice mocked, and he didn't allow her another inch as he held her against him. 'Do you imagine I would ever hurt you? You enjoyed the wine, didn't you, that we drank at dinner, even if to begin with you viewed it with unmistakable apprehension? Well, I suggest you learn to enjoy an interlude such as this in exactly the same way. Such knowledge, when you're out again in the world, could only be useful.' Flickers of fright showed in her face. What he said was outrageous. 'How to become a lover in six easy lessons?'

Marriage in Mexico by Flora Kidd 1978. So Dawn is looking for her sister, in Mexico. In the process she gets thrown off a cliff by her sister's stalker, and she almost drowns. She is of course rescued by the man. He's a jerk, of course. He asks her what kind of beverage she wants, her choices being lemonade, juice and coke. She picks lemonade. He says, "A cool innocent drink for a cool innocent virgin." Thats a good one. Well the cover is pretty. It has a mariachi band in the upper right corner. The cover has a very vintage feel, almost 50's.

Trapped by Margaret Mayo 1990. In this novel Candra has to move her house boat thingy because of the man. In England they have canals, and people live on these boats, where they just plug into electricity or whatever. And they can even travel up and down the canals in their boats, then come home and park their boat again. So, the man, Simeon, is that pronounced like the monkey?, is making her move so he can build some yacht club. She gets pissed. She is very independent, and everyone in her life is telling her that she can't do it, her dad, the man. Even the name of the book is trapped, because she is forced to make a decision she doesn't want to. In one part, she says that men and women are equal in the workplace. He says, "that's debatable, he said. Some women are afraid when it comes to taking the last step. They want equality, they want power, but they're not equipped with the necessary ruthlessness to go with it."

A Solitary Heart by Amanda Carpenter 1993. In this novel, Sian is dating this guy. Well, his brother doesn't think she is good enough for him, so he starts harrassing her, then he likes her. This novel was actually pretty boring and was crap. But my favorite quote is about her outfit that she puts together to go to the theatre and a night out on the town. "Sian savoured the privacy of the study as she drew a dark grey dress from her case. It was very plain, made of an uncrushable jersey that looked good no matter how she abused it. It moulded to the figure with length and mid-thigh, was sleeveless and had a scooped neck and padded shoulders. It looked severe and sexy, and almost conventional until one caught a glimpse of the backless plunge to the waist. She could not wear a bra with it, of course, but then she didn't need one, for her breasts were high, rounded and firm." I thought in 1993 shoulder pads were out?
