Allah
Almighty created man for the worship of Allah alone, as he has
said in the Qur’an and then, He sent his messengers and revealed
upon them Holy books for the guidance of mankind:
"I did not create jinn and humankind except to worship Me."
When
Allah sent Prophet Muhammad (salallahu
alayhi wasalam), He bestowed on him
the miracle of miracles i.e. the Qur’an. Allah first revealed
the verses of the Qur’an through his arch angel Gabriel to
Muhammad, who proclaimed, "Read in the name of thy
Lord". Later its verses were revealed on skin, leaves and
wood.
In
the Qur’an Allah has revealed matters that concern everyday
worldly matters and matters of worship, economics, social life,
life of Hereafter. The opening statement of Allah’s book is:
"This
is a book in which there is no doubt. It is guidance for the
righteous."
Allah
gave the human heart the honour of memorizing this book and this
was done in the lifetime of the Prophet (salallahu
alayhi wasalam), and as a result of
memorizing this book ensured that this book remained unchanged.
Allah says in the
Qur’an:
"Indeed we have revealed this book and indeed we will be its
protector."
This
verse goes to show that Allah has taken upon himself the
responsibility of safeguarding His book & so it has therefore
not been tampered with, as books of other religions have like the
Bible and the Torah.
The
Qur’an is a complete code of life. The laws that Allah laid down
in it fifteen hundred years ago are for all times. No government
was run according to the principles laid down in the previous Holy
books whereas Prophet Muhammad (salallahu
alayhi wasalam) governed the people during his time
according to Allah’s laws in the Holy Qur’an. The earlier Holy
books talked about the coming of the Qur’an and the Qur’an
confirms the revelation of these earlier Holy books.
The colloquial
language of the Arabs has changed drastically over the years but
the language of the Qur’an and the Hadith has not changed in the
least, which is a proof of its authenticity. The Qur’an
addresses all of mankind and not only people of a country or a
place or of a particular time. Therefore it is incumbent on every
human being to study the Qur’an to achieve guidance towards the
right path.
