Skyline: The light at the top of the Space Needle flashes.

Plot: Frasier is giving Martin a tour of KACL when Roz comes in, saying she was duped by a con man. Martin says how good these guys can be at times but Frasier thinks otherwise. He says he can always spot a con man. Martin tells him to watch his poker game that night and guess who is an ex-con man.

At the poker game, Frasier watches Martin's friends Frank, Jimmy and Linda and afterwards has to take his guess. He goes for whom he thought was the most suspcious - Frank! But it turns out Frank is an old undercover cop friend of Martin's. Frasier guesses Linda next, but it's not her either. It was Jimmy, who was the least suspicious. Frasier is horrified - and so is Daphne, as she's going on a date with Jimmy later.

Frasier and Niles later hear that the Topaz, where Jimmy and Daphne are going on their date, is in a rough area. They decide to "rescue" her, but when they get there Frasier accidentally bumps into a man named Rocco, causing him to miss a shot at the pool table that would have won him the game. Rocco is not happy with the Crane brothers and says Frasier owes him the money he would have gotten if he'd won the game. Of course Frasier doesn't have that much cash on him, so Rocco decides to take the brothers outside and "wise them up". Daphne sees them and makes a deal with Rocco - a double or nothing game of pool. If she wins, the Cranes go home unhurt. If she loses, Rocco gets all her money and can beat up the Cranes.....

Subtitles: Pick A Con, Any Con; Oddball In The Corner Pocket.

Martin knows..... Frank, one of Martin's police chums, and Linda and Jimmy, two of Martin's other friends.

Trivia: This is the first episode written by David Lloyd. First appearance of Frank, Martin's police buddy. Penultimate appearance of Eric. There is a mention of Harry Moon as we learn he had to convert the pantry into a room for all Daphne's pool trophies. Oh, and we learn Eddie can spell "bath".
