However Niles gets a surprise when he returns to Maris' house. He gets into bed to surprise her - only to find Dr Shenkman has had the same idea!!! It turns out they've been having an affair for 2 weeks.
Niles is of course, distraught. He is unable to perform at the couple's therapy he and Frasier are supposed to be holding and goes home in tears. Later, he tells Frasier and Martin that Maris and Dr Shenkman want to marry.
Later that night, Niles goes back to try and sort things out with Maris, but at the gate decides he's had enough and the marriage is over. He says that Maris can have Shenkman if she wants - he doesn't care any more. On the balcony, the three Crane men reflect on their poor love lives.
Meanwhile it's Sweeps week at KACL, so Roz is fixing the show so that only the outrageous callers are broadcast.
