The first GNS "Series" story heads back in time to 1950, as we how Martin Crane met and fell in love with the future mother of his children, Hester Winslow, and the events of their first few years together. I decided to write the story because I'd always wondered how the two got together. Mentions of some of these events have occurred on the show, such as the first meeting (Martin has mentioned this a couple of times). Any characters mentioned on the show, such as Duke or Walt Crane, are copyright Grub Street, anyone else (including characters such as Martin Sr and Lorraine, although I didn't invent them I did give them their names and personalities!) is my own creation. Notes on the story: Part 1: In Ep 192 "Room Full Of Heroes" Martin says he met Hester Palmer in 1952. I wrote the first 5 parts of this series before I found this out, and it is slightly different. The year is not 1952 but 1950 (Ep 150 "The Late Doctor Crane" says Frasier was born in 1952, so I set his parents' meeting 2 years beforehand) and Hester's maiden name is Winslow, not Palmer. The name Winslow is Frasier's middle name, so I thought it could also be Hester's maiden name.Parts 3-4: The proposal is as described in Ep 109 "The Ski Lodge", but what Hester said is questionable. In that episode Martin says that Hester said yes, but in Ep 201 "The Proposal" it is revealed that she said no at first. I will put this down as the drink talking (Martin was drunk as he said this) and Niles only agreed with Martin in order to get rid of Frasier. When I conceived the story, this episode hadn't aired, so I'm going along with the original answer in Ep 109. |
