Skyline: Fireworks explode over the skyline.Plot: Niles has decided to propose to Daphne, and he wants the evening to be as perfect as possible. He has chosen a ring, booked celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck to cook dinner and hired amongst other things a choir and little people dressed as angels. Niles gets Martin drunk so Martin will take Mrs Moon out for dinner somewhere whilst Niles proposes. Martin realises what they're up to, but agrees if it will help his son. He takes her on a ferry ride, where he is seen by Peg the security guard - who is put off by Martin's (fake) story of how he can't have sex due to being shot (Mrs Moon thinks its a romantic date and Martin lets her down with this story). Meanwhile, back at the Montana everything is in place. Daphne comes home - with a cold. She just wants to sit down and relax. Niles decides to postpone the proposal, as he wants Daphne to enjoy it and not be sick. He takes Daphne into the back bedroom while Frasier gets everyone out. But some people are still in the Montana when she comes back. Luckily, they are not seen, and as Frasier tries to get them out undetected, Niles decides to pop the question anyway. And Daphne says yes! Subtitles: The Ring; The Words; The Wine; The Distraction; The Proposal. Where Everybody Knows Your Name: A mention of Lilith, as Frasier remembers when he proposed to her and she wanted to be there to choose the ring. Trivia: Niles and Daphne are from now on engaged. Peg and Mrs Moon make reappearances. Mrs Moon's first name - Gertrude - is at last said on screen (it is mentioned in the script for Ep 165 "Something Borrowed, Someone Blue" where it says that "Mrs Gertrude Moon enters", although the name is not mentioned on screen.). Wolfgang Puck also voiced the caller Tom in Ep 172 "Mary Christmas". There's also a mention of Hester Crane - it is revealed she turned Martin down at first, and then was pregnant with Frasier when she walked down the aisle. This doesn't fit in entirely with my When Martin Met Hester story, but I managed to work around this - visit the story for more details. Plus a mention of Claire Wojadubakowski, the widow Martin dated in Ep 159 "Whine Club" |
