Webpage Tips:
|
Right now you must be asking yourself, "What the %#$@ is this?!? I know who the webmaster is!
I am the webmaster! Its my site!" Good, you know who you are and can avoid those expensive
therapy bills. Now the big thing is being a good webmaster.
The biggest thing is update even if it isn't much. Updating your page tells people that the page isn't just an unchanging piece of junk on cyberspace and that it will add more stuff later. One big thing to try is have a coming soon section telling guests what you plan on doing next for the site and when you EXPECT it to come out. And of course if you overshoot that and its a few months later and you still haven't started, change the text so people don't think you gave up on the site even if you did. The next part is a big one! REPLY TO YOUR EMAIL! People will come back to your site if you reply to your email. When Geocities mail wasn't working outgoing for em I accumulated about 300 emails of legit questions, bloopers, award applications and more. Get your email out quickly and then archive it. Its a good idea. Finally, be friendly to people and courteous and always be accepting for change. I for instance am starting an "Explanations" section for those people who think the bloopers are wrong sinec for the most part complaints on my site have been that! It doesn't take much work but it is important. The final thing to stress is a credits section. You have to give credit where it is due because there are other webmasters out there and if someone let you use a graphic or helped make your banner or helped with the site design period, you need to thank those people, plain and simple! |
