    Bandar   (- Torkaman)

The fomer "Bandare Šâh" was founded in 1927 by Reza Šâh Pahlavi as a military  base. Since than this town has growned up, so this is not an old town like other towns in Gorg ân region. Bandar is a harbor. It is situated 37 km eastern Gorgân .
From the point of tribal life and acceptance of tribe, Bandar  has been known not only in this province, but all over Iran.  The main minorities in Bandar district are: Turkman emigrants but even people from Xorâsân, Semnân, Â zarbâijân and Sistân & Balucestân provinces live here.
Sijovâl, šurâde , Panj Peykar, Siâh Tape ( Qare Tape)  and Siâh Âb (Qaresu) are some of the main villages in this district.

Attractions:

  • The wooden quay in harbor.(Can be reached by private transport)
  • You can go by boat form this town to the beautiful  šurâde peninsula. You can even see how fishermen catch sturegon fromwhich  you take the world famous Iranian Caviar.
  • Shrine of Bahodine Naqš bandi and Sepid(Aq) Emâm.
  • Monday market.

Several trains leave Gorgân for Bandar everyday.  The daily trains between Gorgân-Tehrân do stop in Bandar.
