Sophie is eight years old. She doesn't talk with words, but she makes herself understood in other ways. Sophie used to call herself I Dunno. We think this was because it wasn't safe for Sophie to know anything. But that was a long time ago. Our bigs helped her pick the name Sophie Helen, which means "wise light." This name helps her rembember that it's safe to know now, and safe to tell. Kipper, who often spends time with david's dog RUFF, helps Sophie to feel safe. Sophie's sister Val is 14.
