Even though the Hare was fast, he was not fast enough to catch up to the Tortoise. By the time the Hare crossed the finish line, the Tortoise had already long finished the course. The defeated Hare congratuated the Tortoise on outsmarting him. The Tortoise was a gracious winner, and did not boast. Instead, he replied, "Slow and steady wins the race." |
