The August Meeting!

We will be having a guest speaker for the August meeting. Her name is Mary Padilla. Mary is the Oncology Research Coordinator for the Star Foundaiton at Methodist Hospital of Dallas. She will speak on known risk factors for breast cancer and show us how to perform self-breat exams. Mary will also be available to answer any questions you may have.

Our membership has been impacted this year by breast cancer. It becomes a bit more real when your friends and fellow quilters are struck with it.

Fast Fall Fence

Another fun upcoming event is planned for the October meeting. We are going to repeat the 4 patch exchange, with a twist. This time we are going to put together a Split Rail Fence block in fall colors. The finished size will be 6 inches, so the size to turn in will be 6.5 inches. We are asking that the following colors be used so we can coordinate an extraordinary top for the lucky person that wins the blocks:

• Yellow-to-gold (darker, richer FALL yellows and golds.)
• Orange (dull orange to almost rust brown.)
• Dark Green (no limes, use any dark rich green, but don't go too far into blue.)
