Two beautiful traditions exist, they maice the people from Villa de Cura feel proud of themselves they are the Talabartería and the Alpagatería. The Talabartería is the industry of the leather and it is reputed as the best in the whote country. Several generations of Artisan have been educated to avoid the end of this occupation of wonerny with leather which is very exciting. On the other hand, the Alpargatería was the first and main industry of the people from Villa de Cura. It is older than the Talabartería even thouhg this was knowh in Las Guadas in the XVIII century. The Alpargatas shoes from Villa de Cura were reputed as the bestand they were used a lot in the llanero areas of Guárico and Apure.

The word Alpagata shoe is derived of the Arab “Pargat” and of the basque “Abarka”. It seems that the first knitted Alpagatas shoes of cottom were brought by the canaries to Venezuela.
