Sermons

So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you
not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us. 1 Thessalonians 2:8

I recommend that the sermon start out with the antithesis because it usually has the best chance to capture the listener's attention. When we begin with the issue that troubles us, the condition that haunts us, the ideas that annoy us, the statistics that embarrass us, the personality traits that destroy us, the moral vacuum that threatens us, the false idols that seduce us, the new questions in science or medicine or education that confuse us, the dullness of spirit that defeats us, (and an) estrangement from God… we are right there were the people want us to be.
