Wempell's 2nd Battalion of NY Militia in 1778.(8) (9) He served in the military in the 2nd Albany County Militia in 1778 from Schenectady Town, Albany Co., New York. (10) He was a witness/sponsor at the baptism of Clara Bennet, daughter of Alida Bennet, on 16 May 1779 in Schenectady Town, Albany Co., New York. (11) He was a witness/sponsor at the baptism of Henderick Willems, son of Jacob Willems & Maria Merckel on 15 Jul 1783 in Schenectady Town, Albany Co., New York.(12) He was a witness/sponsor at the baptism of Peterus Buys, son of Jacobes Buys & Catrina Harden, on 14 Apr 1784 in Schenectady Town, Albany Co., New York.(13) He was a witness/sponsor at the baptism of Franzyntje Williams, daughter of Petrus Williams & Engeltje Barheyt, on 2 Nov 1788 in Schenectady Town, Albany Co., New York. Schenectady Co. Citizens in the Revolutionary War: GRAVENBERG, John. His name appears on the rolls of the 2nd Albany County Militia in 1778, he was enrolled under Capt. Jesse Van Slyck.

Johannes Gravenberg & Maria Gravenberkg are witnesses at the baptism of Clara Bennet, daughter of Alida Bennet, on 5-16-1779, in Schenectady.

Johannes Gravenbergh & Maria Gravenbergh are also witnesses at the baptism of Henderick Willems, son of Jacob Willems & Maria Merckel, baptised 7-15-1783. [p 238]

Also witnesses at the baptism of Peterus Buys, son of Jacobes Buys & Catrina Harden, on 4-14-1784. [p 245]

Also witnesses at the baptism of Franzyntje Williams, daughter of Petrus Williams & Engeltje Barheyt, on 11-2-1788 in Schenectady. [p 285]

Johannes Gravenbergh is witness with "Fransyna Gravenbergh" at the baptism of Fransyna Williams, daughter of David Williams & Johanna Hoogetelink, on 10-29-1791 in Schenectady. [p 309]

He was married to 1. Maria Williams (daughter of Henderick Williams and Franceyntje Cloet) on 6 Feb 1775 in Schenectady Reformed Church, Schenectady, Albany Co., New York. (16)(17) (18)

MARRIAGE NOTE:
"Feb 6,1775, Schenectady Reformed Church: Johannes Ravenberg of Schenectady married Maria Williams of Niskayuna." Maria Williams (19)(20) was born in 1756 in Schenectady Town, Albany Co., New York. She was baptized on 7 Mar 1756 in First Dutch Reformed Church at Schenectady, Albany, New York. (21)(22) She died about 1790.

GENERAL NOTES:
Baptism - " Maria Willemjche, the daughter of Henderick Willemjche & Francentje Cloet, was baptised 3.7.1756, in Schenectady. Witnesses: Petrus Cloet & Catarina Cloet."

1790 Census - She is in the John Gravenbergh household, as a free white female.
1820 Census - She is possibly living with her son "John Grovenbury," as the female "older than 45 years." Johannes Gravenbergh and Maria Williams had the following children:
