Arts Enrichment
A very enthusiastic group explores creative
and artistic German projects. Stories are read, plays are scripted and
discussed and music is enjoyed. At the 2002 graduation in June there was
a real treat: a surprise rendition of the popular hit song “Deutsch, deutsch
“ by the “Prinzen”. The group meets after school throughout the year, starting
in October, and decides each year which artistic avenue they would like
to pursue and present. There is no participation fee.
The children’s choir
Students attending in Crestview Public
School are eligible to participate in our very active and popular children’s
choir. Practices are held after classes throughout the year. The choir
generally holds performances at the German Pioneer Day, the Christkindl
Market, school assemblies and at the school graduation. They also give
mini concerts at special events or visit community groups e.g. The Seniorenhaus
Concordia. Parents are expected to look after their child’s transportation
to the various venues. There is no other cost involved.
Computer Enrichment
To many of us, computers may be a pain, but
to the Computer Enrichment class, they are both a source of learning and
of fun.
The class runs from October to March/April
in
Grand River C.I.
This year, the class worked on a PowerPoint
presentation for Swiss Day, March 5, 2002. All of the information was found
on German websites and the presentation was in German. To offset all of
this hard work, we had 2 Computer Treasure Hunts. Each participant received
a sheet with Questions and a German website associated with each question.
The class put on its wetsuit and sufed the net looking for the answers,
always on German sites. There were prizes and goodies for all participants.
Next year, the Enrichment Class will be creating
games for the elementary classes using PowerPoint. If you are interested
in computers and interested in fun, please join us in October.
