History
The revised Freelander has once-up-on time optional extras as standard features these include ETC, HDC, PAS and 4-channel ABS. The model has permanent 4-wheel drive with viscous coupling, centre differential and fully independent suspension. Land Rover boasted that over 700 changes had been made. These changes include the same “family face" as the latest Range Rover and Discovery models, by fitting new extended front bumper, new mesh grille and new front and rear bibs. other changes were the introduction of twin pocket headlamps and new rear lights. The vehicle also received a new interior.

Although initially available with 3 engine choices the only engine available for the late production models in the UK was the 2.0 Td4 diesel common rail engine.

All those once luxury extras even came wrapped up in a commercial vehicle. This vehicle is based on a standard 3 door model but has a modified hard-top, blanked out rear-quarter and side windows with a plywood floor in the rear.

The new Freelander II also known as the LR2 appeared in 2006.
