I wanted to talk to the other kids in the barony. I wanted to tell everyone how I got started doing Arts and Sciences.
I saw Lady Maeve doing some blackwork and thought that it looked nice. I decided I wanted to try and do some blackwork. I looked through one of her blackwork books, and I saw what I would like to make. It was a unicorn.
It was not real easy, but not real hard either. Many of the grown-ups helped me when I asked for help. They were nice about it, even when they were busy.
I liked making the unicorn a lot and I think it looks nice. What I am planning on making now is a favor for the next Youth Champion.
Look around at what the grown-ups are doing. If you see something you'd like to try, ask them about it. Most of them will help you if they can.

From Her Mom If you are interested in what you see an adult making or doing, ASK about it. We grown-ups don't always know what you want to do. It's okay to try something to see if you like it. If you don't like it, then try something else. People made all kinds of things during the medieval times. If you want to try to do something that you don't see people doing, then ask them if there is somebody who knows how to do it and could show you.
If you have an idea you want to try. Let somebody know, or talk to them about it. We are here to help you. That's all of us, not just your parents. But we can't help if you don't ask us!
