2000-2001 Meeting Minutes

02 February 2001

Regrettably, the maunciple and the scribe were really late due to a sudden case of weather. But before being called away, the provost had worked out an agenda for the order of business, which was covered.

  1. Old Business

    1. Budget: as far as we know, we have the $100 from our winning club table last spring, but our account is frozen until we complete our community service hours, which led to the next point.

    2. Service: Anyone who can sign up to host a presidential scholar for any or all of the three weekends, is invited, (begged) to do so. We need 10 hours of community service from each member of the club, 75% of the members, minimally. That's a lot, but we like having a budget. Budgets are good.

    3. Medieval Clothing: We have completed some of the official club loaner garb. We are working on more of it at this very moment, at the workshop. We also have a chance to get a sewing machine for the club, pretty cheaply (cleaning and basic maintainance repairs, ~$50).

  2. New Business:

    1. Armor working: Not many have expressed interest in armored touney re-creation. Liz is constructing a late-Roman styled Lorica right now. Dennis is researching his design, and is considering a Rus style, but may build a Lorica due to ease and speed of construction.

    2. Viking Day: Dr. Forhan has told us that getting a Viking ship to Siena will not work since we don't have a Student Union to put it in. Amanda, Sarah, and Missy are going to speak to her and Dr. Clements about any other plans they might have for Viking Day.

    3. Elections:

      • John Ioia has announced that he will not run for a second term as provost.

      • Sarah nominated Melissa Faulborne for the position of scribe.

      • Amanda nominated Jennifer Wallace for the position of maunciple.

      • Sarah nominated Amanda Bauer for the position of provost.

      • ***If you wish to be nominated, please come to see any officer (Sarah, Amanda, or John) and we will put you on the list!

*** OFFICER ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD DURING A GENERAL MEETING AT 6PM IN THE ART ROOM ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2001! ***

      • Anyone who can not attend this meeting to vote should give a written absentee ballot to an officer before February 12th.

The meeting was concluded, and we then proceeded to construction of medieval-styled clothing and armor.
