Article 1 : A-Levels
This the first article of many, we decided to talk about 'A' levels. Having had the experience of 'A' levels at QE Boys I can see exactly how the system works, I must admit for all their faults they do get exceptionally good 'A' level results.
I remember sitting down in the hall with a convincing speech by Dr Marincowitz (who used to be head of Sixth Form) explaining why it was better to stay at QE Boys for 'A' levels - his main argument being that 'other' Sixth Form Colleges only let you do your best two subjects for 'A' level, with two 'A/S' levels in place of the third subject (of course talking about their main rival Woodhouse College, Finchley). So, of course, the majority of us stayed on for Sixth Form, convinced we had made the right choice.
When we all got back to QE Boy's after the summer, we started to realise that we had not been given the whole picture, we were implicitly told that should we not be predicted grades A-C in a subject, we would be simply not be allowed to sit it - quite rightly too, what type of a school would it be if it cared more about its students than its league table position?
We were wondering whether QE would have anything to add to this?
