Article 2 : Raffle Tickets
How was can possibly have a Queen Elizabeth's Boys Schoool information web site without including the infamous sale of raffle tickets. This was once a year and went over a period of about a month where we were given raffle tickets to sell, each book of tickets cost one pound and every student was given five books to sell to raise money for 'founders day'.
If a student had not sold at least five books of tickets they were referred to their year head, which was a problem for some of the poorer students whose parents had to pay for the books if they could not sell them, to prevent their sons being given a bad reputation in the eyes of the school - though of course it was never written on the students permanent folder, how on earth could they justify that? So it was kept fairly unofficial.
However, we're not saying all of the teachers at QE Boy's showed such blind devotion to the ideas of the school, some form tutors even bought some of their poorer students' tickets to prevent a year head referral.
I figure it's just a way of taking money from each student with the threat of a year head referral if you don't give enough - fair huh?
