If you ever wanted a definition of an a**hole on a power trip it was Mr Treadwin - he fits the stereotype to a T, 40-something, flash sports car to make up for other male inadequacies, etc.
He was better known as 'beetroot' as he went bright red whenever he got angry- which was a lot. He used to go out of his way regularly to catch people doing things they shouldn't have been doing and then take great pleasure in punishing them.
I remember the time when he sat down and told his form group that someone had poured paintstripper over his car and was trying to find out who did it, no one was going to tell him - most people secrately wished it had been them. He lived in a rented room in Marriot Road just outside QE Boy's and wondered why people kept harassing him where he lived - banging on his door late at night, etc.
Once on 'litter duty' in the playground Mr Treadwin was tryin to show off his new beard - thus proving his masculiniy, to his 14 year old form group claiming that it had only taken him a few days to grow it, informing them that they would have to spend weeks trying to grow a little bit of stubble - what kind of a sick f*** would say that? This was not a once off event, he frequently tried to show off how macho he was by using various physical and mental tests during his form group period in a feeble attempt to make himself look better infront of his form, such as by being able to do more table dips than any of his group - ?
It was alleged that Mr Treadwin was supposed to be getting married, however he was left waiting at the alter by his future wife who had obviously seen him for what he was, changed her mind and ran off - to be honest I didn't really feel sorry for him, I felt sorry for whoever had nearly spent the rest of her life with him...
I just feel sorry for him as he will never know any better - will pass through life with an inferiority complex, his teaching giving him a small piece of power over other human beings a third his age whereas the majority of people simply accept themselves as opposed to hoarding a large inferiority complex.
