Now Wounded

O sacred Head, now wounded,
With grief and shame weighed down,
Now scornfully surrounded with thorns,
Thine only crown;
How pale Thou art with anguish,
With sore abuse and scorn!
How does that visage languish,
Which once was bright as morn!
What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered,
Was all for sinners' gain;

But Thine the deadly pain.

Summary of Research on The Shroud of Turin

"...There are several theories of how the body of Christ himself could have directly caused the imprint. One of those theories, one that is particularly intriguing to me, is the particle radiation theory that Mark Antonacci believes to have caused the mysterious image. Particle radiation consists of protons, alpha particles, and neutrons.
These particles would have emanated from the body of Jesus when he was filled with resurrection power, hitting the cloth. The image would then form over time. Mark Antonacci said in his author's proposal on his website, "Particle radiation on the Shroud at any time in its history prior to 1945 could only be evidence of something stupendous." (Antonacci, The Author's Proposal 2).
The aftermath of the atomic bomb blast in Hiroshima, Japan, demonstrated that radiation could produce negative images (DeSalvo 8). Ray Rogers, the physical chemist of the STURP team, which stands for Shroud of Turin Research Project (a five day examination of the Shroud of Turin in 1978 by 30 American scientists), said, "I am forced to conclude that the image was formed by a burst of radiant energy-light if you like" (Iannone 77)..."
