OBITUARY: MRS. MARY A. MOODEY DEAD
Mrs. Mary A. Moodey, widow of Judge James C. Moodey, of St. Louis Mo.,
died at her home on West Main street Sunday night at 9:45, after an
illness of about three weeks with grippe, followed by typhoid
pneumonia. Her death was a great shock to the community, for while it
was known that she had been critically ill yet she had improved so
much that her recovery was confidently expected. Her heart had become
weakened however and on Sunday it was noticed that she was in a
greatly prostrated condition. Toward evening she began to sink rapidly
and several hours before her death became unconscious, in which
condition she remained until the end came. The funeral took place this
(Thursday) morning at 10:00 o'clock, Rev. W.A. McCarrell officiating,
assisted by other ministers of the town. Interment was made in Spring
Hill.
Another obituary: Mrs Moodey leaves three children: Mr. James C.Moodey of
Minneapolis, Mrs. Carrie Whorley of Chicago, and Mrs. Elizabeth
Shelley, who lived with her mother in Shippensburg. She also leaves
one step-daughter, Mrs. Critchell of Chicago. The surviving brothers
and sisters are Messrs. James H. and Joseph P. Rankin of Pittsburgh,
Mrs. John R. Miller, and Mrs. Anna Hayes, of Carlisle; Mrs. George V.
Johnston, and Mrs. J.A.C. McCune of Shippensburg. A brother, Dr. David
Nevin Rankin, died only three weeks ago
