Ten years ago, replacement players became NFL stars

Some replacements did a lot more than that. At RFK Stadium, a free-agent fantasizer named Ed Rubbert threw for 334 yards and hurled touchdowns of 88, 48 and 34 yards to a castoff named Anthony Allen, who found instant stardom by setting a team record with a 255-yard receiving game, a record that still stands.

Delma Augusta Margaret Rubbert, 90, Perham, Minn. formerly Fargo, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, in Perham Memorial Home.
Delma Kaeding was born Oct. 26, 1906, in Kramer, N.D., where she grew up and attended school. She worked at Trinity Hospital, Minot, N.D., and later at the Kramer Post Office. On June 20, 1930, she married the Rev. Felix Rubbert in Kramer. They lived in Tolley, N.D., and in 1943 they moved to the Tyler, N.D., area. In 1954 they moved to Fargo. He died in 1990. She became a resident of the Perham Memorial Home in 1993.
She is survived by a son, Armin, Dent, Minn.; a daughter, Margaret (Roger) Heglie, Chatham, N.J.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Today from 4 to 9, with a prayer service at 8, in Shoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham.
Funeral: Friday at 2 in Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
BETTY HELLRIEGEL RUBBERT, 77, of Fort Lee died Monday. Born in Germany, she came to the United States in 1938. She was a parishioner of Madonna R.C. Church, Fort Lee. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 235. Arrangements: Frank A. Patti & Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, Fort Lee.
