The other day, I borrowed this book, Daring to Dance with God by Jeff Walling, from our church library. I have to admit that the title caught my eye -- me? Dancing with God? I was raised in a christian home, and going to dances wasn't encouraged. However, to this day, I wish I had learned how to dance, because I think the "old" style of dancing is beautiful -- the beat, the timing, the waltz!! So, I get this picture in my mind, of me and the Lord, with me in his embrace, and twirling and dancing around the floor, following his lead!! I want to dance with Him -- I want to step into God's embrace. I began to read, and the foreward is by Max Lucado. I would like to share it with you! To me -- this sums it all up. Max Lucado has picked his favourite paragraph of the book. It goes like this:
"And what is it like to dance with him? Dancing with God is allowing him to take our breath away as he whiles us through the dark and light places that life leads us. It is relaxing into his embrace and trusting fully in his strong arms. It is releasing the power of the Spirit within us to give us joy beyond measure. it is reveling in the unexpected and celebrating the divine surprise that is each new day. It is rejoicing out loud at the grace and beauty God provides and ignoring the calls of the crowd to sit down and quit grinning. But above all else, dancing with God is learning to let go!"
Doesn't this sum it all up in a nutshell!! My prayer is "Lord, teach me to dance!!" May this be an encouragement to you all!! God Bless!
