On my way to DO 98 with my husband and granddaughter we went by way of AR for a few days visit with our daughter and her family. She made a pot of “Gumbo” for us. She makes the best gumbo your ever ate. When it was ready and she called us in for dinner, and I said I wasn’t hungry and would eat later. While they ate the aroma was so enticing but I still wasn’t hungry. When they finished everyone except my granddaughter went down stairs to watch a video.
A few minutes later I was in the kitchen slamming cabinet doors. My granddaughter came in and asked me what I was looking for. “A clean bowl”, I replied.“I thought you said you weren’t hungry Grandmommy”, she said. “Well I’m not but I want some before its all gone” I replied. She said “Grandmommy, don’t you remember what our last lesson was about in Weigh Down?” I thought a second then the light came on!!! “Ways of Escape” I replied. “ Well then, just why do you think you couldn’t find a clean bowl?” she said grinning, rather please with herself for having caught me in the act. I thanked her for reminding me and thanked God for showing me where my focus was, on the FOOD(what I wanted) and not on HIM (what He wanted) .
I also thanked Him for a precious grandchild who learns faster than her grandmommy.
I loaded the dishwasher and the next day I got my Gumbo. God graciously saved me some and it was delicious.
In His Love,
Juanita
