The Movement Needs You~Ten Ways to Help

With the election of an anti-choice president, the opposition to our movement increases its power enormously. Progress becomes much more difficult, and even our hard-won gains are threatened with nullification.

You may wonder why, when those believing in end-of-life choices outnumber the opposition by two to one, we are apparently powerless. The answer, of course, is that the opposition draws its strength from the enormous wealth and awesome political power of the religious right, a group that will stop at nothing in it's zeal to impose its "morality" upon the public. Secure in the knowledge that they are "doing God's work" and that the ends justify the means, they routinely engage in subterfuge, misinformation, disinformation and outright lies and demagoguery.

If we are to achieve freedom, the public must be educated in end-of-life realities, for only then will the underhanded tactics of the opposition become ineffective. Since we cannot afford to match the tens of millions of dollars used in misinformation, we must marshal other resources, and in this connection we need your help.

End of Life Choices' members currently number more than 23,000, and we believe that within our ranks may be significant untapped resources that can be used in a campaign of public education. Please read carefully through the below-listed categories. If you have contacts and/or personal relationships with people among them who might be willing to help or speak for us, you and they can be of great value to our movement:

  1. Radio or TV newscasters or talk-show hosts
  2. Radio or TV producers
  3. Newspaper reporters or editors
  4. Magazine editors
  5. Free-lance writers
  6. Clergy
  7. Federal or state legislators
  8. Celebrities or highly visible and respected people, such as
  • Sports figures
  • Movie, stage or TV stars
  • Highly placed corporate executives
  • High ranking politicians

You should also note that End of Life Choices maintains a Speakers Bureau that will provide, free of charge, people to address groups such as clubs, civic organizations, leisure communities, religious congregations, etc. Personal appearances before such audiences are very effective in public education, and any assistance you can provide in scheduling such events could be most helpful.

And last, and perhaps most important, there is the resource of your personal energy and creativity. If you have any ideas for furthering our movement, and/or the willingness to serve on one of our action committees, please communicate with us via one of the following:

In times like these we must take heart in the knowledge that our cause is just . . . and that if we marshal our resources and use them skillfully, we will ultimately prevail.
