Description :

Turmeric consists of dried, as well as, fresh rhizomes of a plant known as Curcuma longa . It has been used centuries in Indian traditional system of medicine, as a spice and a natural food color. Turmeric has been used internally as a tonic for the stomach and a blood purifier and externally for the treatment of skin diseases and wound healing.Curcumin powder is obtained by crystallising turmeric oleoresin which is prepared by the alcohol extraction of turmeric. Curcumin, the active ingredient present in the turmeric is responsible for the biological activities of turmeric. It has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, anti-allergic, anti-bacterial and anti-tumor activity.  Apart from the use as a natural food color, it is popular for its pharmacological properties.
