Robert was always at home in the kitchen. He could bake bread, make European cuisine that looked like the pictures in the books, and entertain a house full of people without a thought.

Here Robert has cooked up a summer barbeque preparing trout tied in capers and a traditional Thanksgiving turkey for family and friends.

My children and I assembled this collage of photos of Robert, which covers his life from his kindergarten picture through about a year before his death. It was displayed with the quilt panel at the dedication at KU in December 1998. It now hangs in my office at home.
