A Cherie Williams yoke dress made of pastel tulip printed cotton, smocked with Tulips by Creative Keepsakes.
This southwestern print romper is smocked with the Friendship plate featured in the Summer 1990 Sew Beautiful.
This Cherie Williams bishop romper is made of pinwale cordoury and smocked with the Ginger Love plate by Sandy Jenkins.
This picture shows the detail of the smocking done on Dianne Durand's Smocked Caftan. I made this for myself as one of my first smocking projects after purchasing my first pleater. There are 32 rows of smocking on the front and on the back.
The detail on this photo shows the music bar with pearl notes of Jesus Loves Me. This plate was featured in Sew Beautiful and when I saw it, I knew that my little friend Mary Margaret was to have this dress.
On Easter morning, Mary Margaret was all smiles in her new dress.
I made dresses for my great nieces and delivered them in person on a summer trip to California. Made with fun border prints, Chelsea models a playful print smocked with bird houses and sunflowers and has added touches of ladybug and dragonfly buttons.
Reyna, another great niece who got a dress that trip, received a dress smocked with the plate Jill by Little Stitches which includes woven ribbons decorating a playful print of children circling the hem.
Based on a pattern in Australian Smocking and Embroidery, this fruit print sundress is smocked across the front bodice and features box pleates and piped trim across the back. I had great hopes of one of my daughters wearing it when it was done (both outgrew smocked dresses by about age 8). Unfortunately it was "too frilly" and so it went to the State Fair and received a second place ribon, and then moved back to the dress bag in the closet. In January 2001 it was donated to the Smoky Valley High School Band and was auctioned off to help support the band trip to Washington, DC. It has finally gone to a good home where it will be worn and enjoyed.
