We're camping tonight at Siler's Blad Shelter. This morning was much the same as yesterday, a heavy curtain of fog enveloping the trees so that it feels like Star Wars. Walking through a cloud dampens sound until there seems to be a void. The silence becomes negative.
Yesterday, I watched the storm roll in through the valleys, waves of clouds tumbling over each other, leaving trails of mist to be caught up in the next race. The day cleared by the time we made camp, 12 miles and 8 hours later.
We caught the next group of hikers today. Some really great people. Also some, uh, interesting people. For instance, the two guys in all cotton camo that just bought black ski masks to stay warm at night. Luckily, we've decided that they're too dumb to be harmful.
