It's a gorgeous day today. I'm spending the night at Frye Notch Lean-to with Fender and Papa Smurf. Smurf is a funny man of 54 from Mariett, GA. He's a talker for sure. He left the trail in Southern ME in 1997 because of an injury. He's back now to finish. I read and slept in this morning, didn't leave camp until 10 a.m. With a fresh start, Mahoosuc Arm wasn't bad at all. I went swimming in chilly Speck Pond and rinsed my clothes. I visited a fire tower and relaxed all day. I finally made some miles in the late afternoon for a grand total of 12. I can feel myself starting to procrastinate so I don't get to Katahdin too soon. But my body is feeling much better today after a short day and a lot of sleep. To Andover tomorrow for mail.
