Short Stories NEW KITTY

Is better than old kitty. Was. Faithless me.
I love her so much tho, with her short
non-messy fur, sweet effortless mongrel
affability, low price-tag (free, after treatment)
and unplanned spots, stripes, streaks about her body.

Her size is not determined, her heart unspoiled, her courage
everything an outside cat should have.
I love to watch her pupils flare
when I bunch up the toilet paper,
love to run from her mini-ferocious fangs
as she stalks me about the house, playing Halloween Kitty.

Love to rub her tummy
all thicker fur and kicking legs,
and to find her in the morning at my feet, disdaining covers,
waiting for the slow, sloppy human to stir. Love new kitty.
Don’t even mind when she bites my eyeballs.
