About Hillary
Biography My name is Hillary Fields. Both by trade and in spirit, I am a romantic, and this, my website, is devoted to all things I find most passionately stirring. Primarily, that means my novels, from my maiden venture, The Maiden's Revenge, to my current release, Heart of a Lion, and extends as well to my works in progress, both historical and contemporary. But here in the beginning, I thought I'd tell you a little about me.

I grew up in Manhattan, with Central Park as my playground and some of the finest restaurants, museums, and shops at my fingertips. (And, judging by my shoe collection, you can tell I love shopping!) I attended college to study the "Great Books" program at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and
that city is still one of my favorite spots on earth.

I'm back in New York now, writing full-time, though I still travel as often as I can to
seek inspiration.E
ver since I was little, I have been fascinated by history, from the
languages and monuments left by great civilizations like Egypt and ancient
Greece, to the costumes, castles, and cultures of Europe throughout the ages.
I love to visit new places, and have found myself inspired over and over again to
write by the beauty and majesty of the world. Both the natura
l
wonders nature
has shaped and the astonishing feats of architecture created by man spur my
imagination to spin tales of heroic damsels and their knights in distress...(And
no, that isn't a typo, as those of you who know my feminist slant can attest!)

I simply can't be in the world without building stories to fit around the things I've
seen and done and wished I could do. And that's where writing comes in, to help me
live my dreams. Sometimes I play pirate, brandishing a sword and holding a dashing
young ship's captain for ransom, ala The Maiden's Revenge. Sometimes, I'm an
archaeologist with a mind to carve out a place for women in the study of ancient
Egypt, as my heroine did in Marrying Jezebel. Through my writing, I can be a martial
arts expert, a renegade, a rock star, or any old thing I please. And the best part of
it, of course, are the heroes I get to create!

After all, what would a romance novel be without a heartthrob to heat up the
heroine? At the heart of every story I write is the hero, whether tall, dark, and
handsome or fair, fun, and smiling. In my dreams and in my novels, create men who
are everything a girl could want - loyal and true, passionate and powerful, tender
and intelligent. Not to mention hunky! And in the guise of my heroines, I get to
spend all day with these lovely men between the pages of my novels (or, more
accurately, betwixt the letters of my keyboard), whether making love in silk-draped
boudoirs or racing camels across the open desert, fighting side by side to combat a
common enemy or scheming against one another in the struggle for passionate
dominance. There's always plenty of love and lust to go around!

Wow. I really do have the best job in the world... But in the end, it's you, who
read my stories, who really make the task worthwhile.
