Robotics and artificial intelligence are at the frontiers of technology. These relatively new branches of science have developed at a breath-taking rate. Less than a century ago the word "robot" was unheard of and the idea of "thinking machines" was considered as fanciful even in science fiction. Today, the achievements in these fields stand testimony to the power of science.
Robotics aims at the development and use of machines capable of independent and autonomous action.
Artificial Intelligence is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable.
