What is anime? Anime is japanese animation (cartoons). Pronounced "ah-nee-may". You probley saw anime before and didn't know it. Shows like Speed Racer and Robotech are anime that some people saw when they were younger. There are a few anime series on TV in the U.S. You can find some anime in syndication. Funimation bought the US rights to show Dragon Ball Z. It's in syndication on various networks to see if your station has it click here. The Sci-fi channel shows an anime every saturday morning here is their schedule for June. Some people think anime is pornography, but its not. There are anime with extreme sexual situations called "Hentai". On my anime pages you won't find any pictures, information, or links on "Hentai". I'm sure there are pages on the web devoted to it, but not here. In anime there are three kinds of anime: TV, OAV, and Movies. TV and movies are easy to know these are anime that are on TV or Movie theaters respectively, but OVA (Original Video Animation) also known as OAV (Original Animation Video) are anime released directly to video usually the art is a little better than TV ,and they usually run about 30 to 60 minutes. Some popular shows have TV series and have OAV's.
