Warren joined Duran Duran in 1986 after
learning in advance
about the departure of Andy Taylor. This would be the start of a trend of Warren trying to "One Up" others. His
previous bands included
"Missing Persons" and a stint with guitar
guru Frank Zappa
(RIP). Fans were doubtfull about this
mediocre guitar player from
New York from the beginning - and remain so to this day. Granted, Warren must be given what small due he is owed. Warren has always been polite and friendly to fans, and provided a sticking point for Duran during the few turbulent years when Duran needed a direction (however, this is certainly an achievement which could have been accomplished by any one of a number of people). Warren's ego, attitude and behavior were also a large part of the reason John Taylor decided to leave the group in 1997. The years following John's departure in 1997 saw a steady decline in the band, till By 1999, it was clear that Warren did not fit with Duran Duran any more. Warren's behavior was increasingly out of line and the final straws came when he posed nude for a gay magazine and started his own porn business. Neither of these actions were acceptable behavior for a member of Duran Duran. When the original members of Duran Duran decided to reform, there was obviously no place for Warren in this project. He was informed that the original group had decided to reform, and was told he would have to leave. Warren did not take kindly to this at all, and insisted on recieving royalties from the work of the newly reformed original group as compensation. This, I do not believe he either deserved, nor was entitled to. It takes a small man to recieve compensation from others work, while he sits on his arse and does nothing. At the same time, DuranDuran.Com were trying to keep the news of the runion of the original group low profile. Warren decided that he would 'spill the beans' about the reunion to the fans, before Duran Duran were ready. This was a very hateful and spiteful move, as it forced Duran Duran to confirm the plans for the reunion before they were ready. All in all... Warren was trying to lead the band in a bad direction... A direction which would have turned them into laughing stocks and would have stigmatized them forever as a 'joke'. For these reasons, I am very glad that Warren is no longer in the band, and his history with the band is at an end. I am also glad that he has been replaced by the rightful holder of the position of "Guitar Player For Duran Duran" The one and only Andy Taylor Welcome back Andy!!
