If you've ever played one of those civilization building or war games on your computer, you know what it takes to win. If not, you can pick it up pretty quickly. Imagine we are going to play one of those games. You belong to an invisible species. You have no visible physical body, but can talk to other species using a kind of mental telepathy. As an invisible species, you have certain limitations. You have no physical senses, no organs for sight, hearing or touch. You do not know your surroundings. You are in the dark. In order to see you need to hijack the DNA of a species that does have senses. So, the first thing you do is to set out some bait. The bait has several properties. First, it immobolizes the victim. It includes a hormone-like structure that matches receptors in the pineal gland. This gives you temporary access to the nervous system. It implants a gene in the DNA that establishes your telepathic communication channel with this individual. These individuals and their descendants become your "subjects". The only way you can get them to do your bidding is to convince them of your wisdom. If they follow your instructions, you can teach them to build a successful civilization. If they don't, they will squander their time and energy on the mundane and never build the civilization you require to win the game. Once the bait is taken, you have access to the nervous system of the individual and you can use it's senses to study the environment. You can only study the environment working thru your subjects. The bait's short term drugs warp the subject's perception and allow you to give them strong post-event suggestion. The result is a loyal subject. The new genetic information you have added temporarily stored in the one who takes the bait. It is not until the subject reproduces that the new gene becomes a permanent part of the DNA. There are other players in the game that have subjects that they can influence in the same way. Of course, your subjects are in competition for the local resources with the subjects of other players. Your ability to succeed depends on how well you can communicate with your subjects, but the como system you are forced to use is far from perfect. Your subjects are having a good time and are reluctant to see the big picture. Most of them are too busy living for their immediate gratification to hear what you have to say. "Build a what?" they say. Given this situation, what would your strategies be? What would you tell your subjects? The first thing you would tell them is to increase their numbers. So, you need to convince your subjects to make lots of babies. Next you would need to organize your subjects. You would need workers to exploit the territory's resources, soldiers to defend it, farmers to grow the food, mothers to raise the children and upper management to keep your subjects on track to insure that the civilization gets built. Since some of your subjects respond better to your telepathic messages than others, you need to identify those "good listeners" and make them your managers. You need to tell them how to pass your wisdom on to the others. Some are inclined to lead, others to rule over your subjects in your name. You support both approaches. You want to encourage your subjects to mate only with others within their own population because outsiders would not possess the same genetic string as your subjects. Their offspring might even receive messages from one of your competitors. This could cause serious disruptions in your plans. Since telepathic channels are not very powerful, some of your subjects will not hear you very clearly. They might even think that the ideas you put in their heads were their own. These subjects can still be very useful to you. Since you can only talk to them, you don't have much power over your subjects, you are forced to be especially resourceful. Given these game parameters, the strategies would be obvious to most children these days. It is the way of life of our culture, easy as one, two, three. - Con them.
- Threaten and intimidate them.
- Promise them anything.
You would tell them that you were main, one and only god in the Universe. You would say, "Do what I say... or else! You would promise them eternal life.
You don't have direct control over your subjects, but you do have some powers that you can use to aid in the implementation of the above. - You know all. You have a direct line to the activities of all subjects. You know your subjects inside and out.
- You can guide your subjects to other subjects.
- You can give them ideas.
- You can lead them to discoveries.
And of course, you can continue to put out bait. Although it is fun to play the bigshot, we aren't the god in this game, are we? We are the subjects. It is our DNA that has been hijacked. The above strategies have been used on us. There are many competing gods using their followers win the game. We are the pawns. We have been betrayed. The betrayal is complete and mirrored by the down right ugly behavior of our, supposedly, god sanctioned institutions; corporate, church, state and family. The result of this unruly human behavior is that the environment has been degraded to the point of collapse. The mess is not our fault, we were just doing what we thought was right; what the gods wanted us to do. Scientist studying ancient air bubbles trapped in Antarctic ice say that global warming began 8,000 years ago, "...as humans started clearing forests, planting crops and raising livestock." We are caught in the middle, between the gods with their civilizations and the biosphere with her living animals(including us). Just like a teen from a broken home, we are torn between our Father and Mother. It is no wonder that we humans are so maladjusted.
