Parents With Disabilities

We are here and we ain't going away. There have always been parents with disabilities. It just seems now there is recognition of that fact by consumer groups and some service agencies. Feminist groups of disabled women such as the DisAbled Women's Network (DAWN) have recognized from the beginning that being a parent was an important issue for a mother with a disability.

Groups

The Parenting Network has begun to meet again at the Independent Livng Centre in Toronto. This is an opportunity for individuals to come together to discuss relevant issues that they face as parents with disabilities. There will be one meeting each month from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at 205 Richmond St. West, Suite 605. Call Nancy at (416) 599-2458 or TDD: (416) 599-5077. Attendant services will be provided and light refreshments will be provided.
