    Step #5: Preparing to Burn

There is one critical step that you need to do before burning your files to a DVD. Open each IFO file with IfoEdit and press the "Get VTS sectors" button at the bottom of it's interface. Be sure to let it resave the IFO files as this will allow your DVD player to be played in a settop DVD player. You might also press "Remove P-UPs," just in case there were some user prohibitions that snuck through (although this is usually unnecessary).

I have been using Nero 5.7.7.8 to burn my DVD-Rs with no problems. There are some nice tutorials for burning DVD with nero at:

Derrow's IFO edit site

High Vids Video Editing Resource site

One thing neither tutorial currently mentions is UDF tab settings. I have been using Neros default settings without any problems which are:

UDF partition type: Physical Partition

File system version: UDF 1.02

That completes these instructions. They have not been tested very thoroughly, so I would be very interested in hearing about any successes or failures. Note that the finished DVD will not have a menu, but should play perfectly well in settop DVD players.

I have created a forum to go along with this web page where people can post information regarding editing DVDs. You don not need to join to read the forum or post.
