2004 Highlights

April, 2004 - July, 2004

School provides the kids with some remarkable experiences. Josiah participated in "School in the Mall", a unit where Grade 8 students spend time working in real stores as part of their educational studies.

Josiah also played on the school baseball team.

Dealing with growing boys can be a hair-raising experience...

... fortunately, there are a variety of activities to distract them. Jared played George Fredrick Handel junior in the school play...

... and thoroughly enjoys playing the piano.

Both Derek and Jared have trouble...

... keeping their feet on the ground.

All three boys represented Laurentian Hills Christian School against kids from all over the region as they competed at District Field day. They even brought home several ribbons.

June 6 happens to be our anniversary AND Josiah's birthday.

This year the boys got to have a sleep over in the basement...

... and lengthy philisophical discussions in the hot tub.

Josiah also attained a significant milestone in his life...

... graduating with honours from Laurentian Hills Christian School

As part of the tansition to high school, Josiah decides to learn to play guitar

The July long weekend finds us camping at Pinehurst Lake near Paris. Hey, who moved the lake?

It's also the weekend of the annual "Frisian Day" picnic, an ethnic event with lots of games...

... for kids of all ages

The lake is also teams with a variety of fish. Fishing requires patience and a bit of skill. Here Derek takes the bait, literally!

At night we celebrated with sparklers, and intriguing campfire stories.

At the same time, Karla celebrated her 16th birthday in Neon, Kentucky, where she was on a mission tip with 30 other youth from Community CRC.

They constructed a home for an underprivileged family of four in an economically depressed area.

She returned just in time to join us for the final day of camping.

Our 'Season's Pass' to the local conservation areas gets a lot of use throughout the summer.

One of our favourite spots is Shades Mills in Cambridge where they have a large beach and a 9 hole frisbee golf course.
