History of the Honea Path Fire Department.

The Honea Path Fire Department was organized in 1916.
The Fire Department members can boast of being the oldest
service organization of the town of Honea Path.
Through the  years the department has had six fire chiefs:  Chief W. A. Stepp, Chief Floyd A. Walker, Chief G. W. Page, Chief Ray Cox, Chief Robert L. "Shorty" Thornton,
and Chief James A. "Jimmy" Smith.
Chief Smith was appointed in January 1997 by Mayor William E. "Billy" Gilmer.
The Fire Department is supported financially through taxes and contributions accepted to purchase equipment that is not budgeted.
