SCHOOL SAFETY PROGRAMS
Firemen volunteer their time to demonstrate and provide
fire safety instruction to day care and school groups.
Smoke
detectors save lives!! Twice
a year the HPFD members put on a drive to sell Smoke Detectors. A booth is
set up in front of Bi-Lo and at the Fall Festival. Contact any member of
the HPFD for information or to obtain a Smoke Detector.
Carbon monoxide (CO)
is a tasteless, odorless gas that is a silent killer. The HPFD recommends that
each home be outfitted with a carbon monoxide detector, in addition to smoke
detectors. If the detector is activated, our advice is to leave the house and
call 911, especially if you or your family members feel ill. The HPFD is
equipped to monitor your household in the event your detector goes into
alarm. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions.

BURN VICTIMS
BOOT DONATIONS
When you see a fireman standing with a fireman's
boot in his hand wanting donations, this is the Boot Drive. The
money collected is donated to the Burn Center in Augusta, Ga. |
SAVE
CAN'S FOR BURNED VICTIMS
You can drop off aluminum cans behind the fire department
to assist with financial cost of treating burn victims. Anderson County
collects approximately 2 thousand tons per year.
CIVIL DEFENSE
SIREN
The Civil Defense Siren sounds each Monday
at 9:00 a.m. for testing.
If the siren sounds STEADY any other time, this is an ALERT for which a
DISASTER, ATTACK or ETC. is taking place.

FIRST RESPONDER
First responder became part of the HP Fire
Dept. in
1999. All responders have completed a 60 hour course which consists of
first aid and resuscitation techniques.
This service provides support to EMS.
Here are a couple of
hints that will make accessing the emergency system easier, therefore
allowing the department to respond more quickly. Thanks for your help!! |

911...these
are the only numbers you need to remember in an emergency. No longer do you have
to thumb through the phone book or find that list next to the phone...just dial
911. The 911 system in Honea Path is an enhanced system that gives
the dispatcher your address on a computer screen as soon as you call. For
all emergencies, please use the 911 system, be it for fire, medical or police.
It is a very efficient system that will help protect you.
Number your
homesThe Honea Path Fire Department
asks that all residents mark their homes with the correct street address in a
highly visible area. Sometimes it is difficult for responding personnel to
locate the house number, especially in the more wooded areas and at nighttime.
Thank you!!
