Phase Two
As of April 16th 2003, I had lost a total of 140 pounds. Prior to that weigh-in, on March 26th 2003, I had only taken off seven pounds from the previous weigh-in in December. I was a bit disappointed at first but knew that my activity level and fitness routine had taken a dramatic upturn and that I had been sticking to my eating plan. I also knew that I had taken off a considerable number of inches, since I had gone down in three sizes of clothes.

My nutritionist decided that it was time to start counting calories. So he put me on a 3000 calorie limit per day. This adds to the hassle of counting everything that goes into my mouth. But I have been measuring everything anyway so it wasn't that big of an adjustment. Anyway, I did what was asked of me and at my next weigh in three weeks later I had lost nine more pounds.

So, enter phase two! Calorie counting is hard because now I need to adjust my eating plan further to fit the other two limits of fats and sodium. My Doctor wants me to stay under 4000 calories a day. He said that I need to think of my efforts in terms of a rubber band. The further you stretch it, the more tension it creates, and the chances of it snapping increases. 3000 calories a day is a dramatic reduction from the amount I was taking on before. And even though I had rapid success, losing weight too fast is not as productive if it takes so much effort that you snap under the pressure.

Makes sense to me, So here I go into phase two. My food lists will be changing over the course of time. Since the low-fat, low-sodium, regimen does not fit my new criteria in some cases. So check back from time to time if you are interested in my perfect food list.

I am excited to have gotten this far and I know that this next phase will reap many new  rewards. A year from now who knows, maybe I will be starting on phase three, aimed at getting me to my fighting weight of 330 pounds.
